SAVOY, Ill. (AP) -- Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney is criticizing Democratic front-runner Hillary Rodham Clinton's health care-reform plan for its "big-government, Washington approach."
Romney says his health care plan would let states pick their own paths toward reform, with the benefit of federal funding.
Romney spoke to about 35 local supporters and reporters during a morning appearance at Willard Airport in Savoy before heading to a private fundraiser. The former Massachusetts governor is scheduled to speak in Chicago later.
Romney is in the top tier of candidates in a large GOP field, but he's well behind former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani and former Tennessee Senator Fred Thompson.
