The body of a man in his thirties is discovered in the Kishwaukee River in Belvidere.
At around 4:30 Thursday, rescue teams recovered the man's body from the middle of the Kish, near a skating park downtown. Police aren't releasing his name until family is notified. Calls from eyewitnesses led police to the body.
"A couple citizens thought they saw a body. Police arrived on the scene and in fact did recover a body in the river," says Deputy Chief Dave Earnest.
Belvidere Police Chief Jan Noble says that a preliminary review of the scene and body shows no evidence of foul play, but that would be confirmed by an autopsy scheduled for later today
