Doctors at Swedish American Hospital provided the specifics of the minimally invasive procedure today. A hysterectomy is when a women's uterus is removed.
At Swedes, doctors can now insert instruments through three tiny incisions in the stomach, the surgeon then separates the uterus from the cervix and removes it through one of the incisions.
Kimberla Roby is one of the first women to have the procedure, she says there was hardly any pain and she was back on her feet within 24 hours.
Not all women are candidates for this laproscopy procedure especially those with an enlarged uterus or cancer.
