BURBANK, Calif. (AP) -- The Walt Disney Company has decided to act on its own to make sure its toys are safe.
Disney officials say they'll begin independently testing toys that feature Disney characters produced by Mattel and other toy makers.
The move comes on the heels of three high-profile recalls by Mattel involving millions of Chinese-made toys tainted with lead paint.
A Disney official tells The New York Times the toy makers will be given the message: we're looking over your shoulder.
