President Bush Visits Iraq

This is the President's third visit to the war torn country. This time he's meeting with US troops, tribal leaders, and the Iraqi Prime Minister. The trip comes just one week before the President gives congress a report on the current troop surge.

The President says, "The secretary's and I have come here today to see with our own eyes the remarkable changes that are taking place in Al-Anbar Province. The people in this province are seeing that standing up to the extremists is the path to a better life. I'm going to reassure them that America does not abandon our friends and America will not abandon the Iraqi people."

Next, President Bush's continuing on to Australia, to host an economic summit.
