Toddler Drowns In Rockford

Autopsy results are now in for a two year old found dead in a Rockford swimming pool last night.

Authorities tell us Vicente Mendoza Junior was found by his mother floating in a backyard pool on 16th Street, the Mendoza's neighbor told 23 News that his wife ran next door to perform CPR on the child.

The toddler was pronounced dead at Swedish American Hospital.

The investigation is ongoing but police believe the drowning was an accident.

    saftey eqippment could have been used to prevent the child from drowning

    An absolutely irresponsible mother - what was she thinking? I do hope that she's prosecuted and given jail time as punishment and to set an example to other mothers.
