ROCKFORD, Ill. (AP) -- Rockford police are searching for the gunman who left a 4-year-old boy in critical condition and his mother wounded.
Deputy Police Chief Greg Lindmark says 30-year-old Tammy Dufoe was going to a "meeting" in the parking lot of a Rockford gas station early yesterday when she and her son Chase Maple were shot.
Dufoe was shot in the arm and has been released from the hospital. Chase is in critical condition after being shot in the head.
Police say no one has been arrested in the shooting. Dufoe's car has been impounded.
Just two years ago, Chase's father was shot to death outside of his home.
