23 News has learned that the Teachers Union has filed an intent to strike notice. According to Illinois school code this had to be filed by last Thursday if teachers and support staff decide to strike.
School is set to start on Aug. 23, and all sides are hoping to reach an agreement by then in order for school to start on time.
The school board has called an emergency meeting for 5 p.m. Monday night in which the community can comment before the board meets privately behind closed doors.
