On August 24th 1,300 students will take a walk down Belvidere North's hallways for the first time. This comes just 2 years after a 50 million dollar building bond was approved by voters.
The new school offers a courtyard for students to get outside during lunch, tv monitors and computers in every classroom, an exercise room with new equipment, and smaller lockers and bigger hallways for more space.
The scent of fresh paint and new equipment won't only be circulating the new school, close to 5 million dollars was spent on renovations at the older school making the first day of class even more anticipated.
This year the excitement for both schools means teachers and students getting back together again, in a new learning environment.
