Wisconsin Manufacturing Growth First Among Swing States

Preliminary federal data shows the state has added 13,000 jobs so far this year. That's an increase of 2.6 percent.

Overall, Wisconsin has gained 59,000 jobs since December and increase of two-point-one percent. That's about double the average rate in 18 other swing states or the nation as a whole.

Both President Bush and Democratic nominee John Kerry have focused on the economy in their recent campaign stops. Kerry is expected to again Tuesday in Beloit.

Wisconsin has about 69,000 fewer jobs than it did during the recession of three years ago.
