Cherryvale Gets New Stores and Makeover

By  |

Cherryvale Mall will soon be home to a new department store. JcPenny’s plans to open their doors this week with a grand opening celebration on Wednesday. But Penny's isn't the only new addition to the mall. Several stores will soon be added and construction is underway to give the mall an updated look.

From the kitchen to the bedroom it's all inside JcPenny's. And this new department store has plenty to offer customers including a styling salon and portrait studio. Store Manager Lynn Ehlers says Penny’s choose to relocate to Cherryvale because it was the right time and he believes their business will improve there and other stores seem to agree.

In the months ahead Ann Taylor Loft, Charlotte Russe, Dress Barn, Deb and Mary’s Market Cafe and Bakery will all be opening up. And just this past May Hollister came to Cherryvale. There’s also good news for chocolate lovers. Fannie May will be reopening in its old location on October first.

Cherryvale’s General Manager Mark Peterson says the Rockford marketplace reflects great growth and demographics drawing retailers to the second biggest metropolitan market.

Besides new stores, Cherryvale Mall is also getting a makeover. A new elevator has been put in place as well as several escalators to make the mall more family friendly. And starting in September you'll see carpeting on most of the upper level floors, new tiling on the lower level and a new look to the bathrooms.

Construction is expected to be complete in November of this year. Just in time for the holiday season.
