Alliant Energy has a $13 million loss during the second quarter. That compares with a net income of $32 million during the same period last year.
The Madison utility said the average loss was 12 cents per share, compared with earnings of 35 cents per share a year ago.
Alliant president Bill Harvey says they aren't satisfied with the second-quarter results from its non-regulated businesses and will continue to streamline their portfolio.
Alliant Energy's utility companies serve customers in Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota and Wisconsin.
