As Rockford prepares for its annual On The Waterfront festival this week, organizers are taking extra precautions.
Historically, On The Waterfront has been a safe festival, but with the events of Sept. 11. Rockford Police say they're not taking any chances.
Rockford police officers will be on foot and bikes throughout the festival keeping a close eye on things. Also, the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Department will be on boat patrol enforcing the no wake zone on the Rock River. Not to mention, all of the other organizations pitching in to make this years festival safe and fun.
Now there is one important change at this year's festival, all bags will be searched at the gate.
