District 205's New Visualize 2015 Strategy
Wrapping local neighborhoods around schools - that's one of the highlights in District 205's new Visualize 2015 strategy.

Hundreds turned out yesterday for the district's rare education summit opportunity. It was a chance for the local community to offer feedback on the district's direction. One parent says bringing zones to elementary schools will engage students. The idea mirrors how the high school and middle schools operate. He says achievement scores have improved at those schools because of the change.
"We saw the charts which show that the elementary school kids can be ten miles from their school and they don't participate. It's impractical. You get the kids who live five blocks from their schools, they're at the after school activities, they're at their parent teacher conferences, they're at the weekend cleanup days," says Paul Baits.
The final draft of the strategic plan will be completed in June.
