The Illinois State Toll Highway Authority plans to send out notices to warn motorists that they must pay up or risk suspension of their license plate and ultimately their driver's license.
Tollway Executive Director Jack Hartman says violators who have avoided paying until now aren't off the hook. The toll authority is also contacting a collection agency to go after the scofflaws.
The crackdown follows the release of an audit report last week that said $30 million in unpaid tolls and fines have gone uncollected.
