The district has been working on this new plan for several months and what you'll hear tomorrow is a rough draft of it. That's because the district hopes to get your input tommorrow to include in the final comprehensive plan.
They've been preparing Eisenhower Middle School all day today to host the summit. There are nearly 450 seats available. Superintendent Dr. Lavonne Sheffield is expected to provide an overview of her 5 year plan. In it, she outlines five goals, two of which are enhancing learning and getting parents involved. This is also an opportunity for students to say what they think needs to change or be added to the classroom. After the overview, the auditorium will break out in small group sessions.
"We believe it's important to have smaller groups where we can actually have conversation take place. We are going to have facilitators. We are going to have 20 breakout sessions and we're trying to keep the groups down to a maximum of 20," District 205 Superintendent Assitant, Luz Ramirez said.
You must register to be part of this event. You can do that tomorrow morning starting at 7:30 am. So far, around 400 have pre-registered, but they are taking walk-ins and will try to make accomadations to fit extras in as well. The final strategic plan will be completed by June.
