(AP) -- The board fired 54-year-old Betty Burden and district transportation director Vince Ramirez at its meeting Thursday night.

Ramirez said he is considering legal action against the district.

School officials say two different co-workers had told Ramirez they smelled alcohol on Burden's breath -- one on March 9, when she was arrested, and one on the day before.

Prosecutors say Burden admitted drinking vodka before driving 50 students home. They say her blood alcohol level was 0.226 percent.

Illinois has a zero-tolerance alcohol policy for school bus drivers.
