Two members of the MetroCentre Authority have resigned, citing a recent venues report as the source of their contention.

"They're artificially encumbering any future board here with an impediment because they've put a number in people's heads that is patently wrong,” said Stephen Minore during a board meeting today.

Minore and Brian Peterson told the board they were resigning because they didn't like certain aspects of a venues report, specifically the part that deals with finances. The report was presented to the city two weeks ago and provided a model for how downtown venues should operate together for best economic success. The two board members agree that a collaborative effort from all venues is essential for the future. However, Peterson says he does not agree with the part in the report that outlines a $1 million dollar subsidy cap for the new authority because it's not realistic.

"They're almost starting from having to dig themselves out of a hole instead of being able to start at ground level and then go forward. I think they've got a heck of a challenge ahead of them if that number resonates as the expectation when all is said and done and all the facts are uncovered - is that a reasonable expectation, I don't know," Peterson said.

Minore, a city appointed member, said his resignation is effective immediately. Peterson, a county appointed member, said his last day is April 15th.
