The Illinois Department of Employment Security says the northern Illinois community had a jobless rate in January just shy of 20 percent.
Other cities are hardly faring well, though.
Tuesday's numbers show 11 out of the top 12 metropolitan areas have rates 10 percent or higher. The Kankakee-Bradley area is at 16 percent, and the Chicago area is nearing 12 percent.
The January rates were higher than previous-year levels for the 32nd straight month.
