Amerock and Tapco Building Purchases Face Sub-Committee
Infrastructure is also a hot topic on Rockford's agenda as aldermen decide whether to knock down two well known buildings or shoot down the actual plan.

"I doubt that there is any development that could be done with those two buildings so, if the city can leverage some federal funding and look to the demolition, that would just be fantastic," says alderman Venita Hervey.
Alderman Hervey is in favor of the city's plan to buy and destroy the Tapco and Amerock buildings in downtown Rockford. Tomorrow, the proposal will face its first hurdle at a sub-committee meeting where aldermen are expected to vote on the plan. Right now, the city is able to purchase both structures for around $2 million with help from a $29 million community development grant.
