For nine-year-old boy Jacquez Brown who wandered too close, the images of serenity turned out to be tragically deceptive.
It was at 4:19 Tuesday afternoon when the call came in that the boy had fallen into the river, and was fighting for his survival.
The boy was pulled from the water by dive teams 45 minutes after the call came in. Emergency workers immediately began lifesaving efforts and he was taken to Rockford Memorial Hospital.
The boy lost his young life at the hospital. According to eyewitness accounts, the boy was pulled out of the water more than 100 feet from where he had fallen in, due to swift currents.
