A former Loves Park Chamber of Commerce Director is charged with felony theft.
Patricia Phelps is accused of misappropriating funds from the chamber. The charge is based on a single check made out to Phelps in the amount of $954.00.
In total, investigators believe that Phelps is responsible for approximately $8,000 in missing funds. If convicted, Phelps could receive a sentence of two to five years in jail.
Phelps surrendered to authorities and has been released on bond.
