Identity Protection Agency Pays $12 million
An identity theft protection agency that made a stop in Rockford last summer, is ordered to pay a $12 million settlement after being accused of false advertising.

It's Arizona-based LifeLock. The Federal Trade Commission and 35 states, including Illinois, sued the company for stating it protects against all types of identity theft. LifeLock agreed to quit saying it's a proven method.
For $10 a month, the company says it scans thousands of black market web sites to make sure they haven't stolen our private information.
