It will be another year before Belvidere North and Belvidere High schools face off on the basketball court, but that's not stopping the District 100 rivalry.

Both schools tried to raise as much money in under a minute during class assemblies Today. The money is for million meals for Haiti which reports 17 cents equals one meal in the earthquake stricken nation. The district raised three-thousand dollars during a similar event two years ago and organizers hope to be even more successful this time around.

"Belvidere north is also doing this and so are the middle schools which is really cool we get to be involved as a district, so we're just going to match up for a friendly rivalry against north to see who could raise the most money." said Gaby Pasillas from Distributive Educational Clubs of America.

Students will pack meals for haiti at Belvidere North Saturday from 12-2. If you're interested in donating checks can be made payable to Rockford Sharefest and dropped off at either of the high schools.
