The investigation continues tonight into the death of a Stateliner whose body was found in a Chicago river. We met with a childhood friend of the 20 year-old Lena man.
"It still hasn't really set in. It probably won't until I see his family."
Andrew Frits still finds it hard to believe that his life-long friend Jay Polhill of Lena is dead.
"You think Jay is just playing a big joke. You'll see him, he'll show up, he'll be at his house or he'll come visit us or something you know. It's... he's out of sight out of mind, it's just shock."
Polhill's body was recovered Tuesday night from the Little Calumet River on the South side of Chicago. He was in his sophmore year at Columbia College pursuing his dream of photography.
"He said, 'yeah I'm thinking about photography and my parents are totally backing me and totally behind me and I'm just doing what I love, doing my dream,' I thought that was great cause you know not a lot of people can do that and... it was awesome."
Frits has known Polhill since they were in second grade and simply wants everyone to remember him as the energetic person he was.
"Jay was just, he was full of energy, tons of energy. Really funny. He had a really sharp comedic wit and he would always throw in his two cents and it was hilarious. He never had a bad joke. It's just crazy that something like this would happen to him."
Chicago Police are still investigating the cause of Polhill's death and the Cook County Coroner has ruled his autopsy inconclusive with results pending the investigation.
He was last seen Sunday night at a Columbia College dorm near Chicago's loop and according to the Chicago Tribune his girlfriend was the last to hear from him through a text message Monday morning in which he said he spent the night at a party on the city's North side.
