The Emerald Ash Borer or EAB quarantine now includes all of Boone and Winnebago Counties as well as the eastern parts of Ogle and Lee Counties. This means that any portion of an ash tree in our area including leaves or branches can not be removed from the stateline in case they're infested.
The EAB kills trees by destroying their ability to take in water. Meanwhile, a US Senate committee has just approved 2 million dollars for Illinois to help fight off the beetle.
