ANOTHER 19 PEOPLE IN ILLINOIS HAVE BEEN CONFIRMED AS HAVING FALLEN ILL FROM WEST NILE VIRUS.

THE LATEST CONFIRMATIONS BRING TO 61 THE NUMBER OF CONFIRMED CASES IN THE STATE, ACCORDING TO THE ILLINOIS DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC HEALTH.
TEN OF THE NEWEST CASES ARE FROM SUBURBAN COOK COUNTY, FOUR ARE FROM CHICAGO AND TWO ARE FROM WILL COUNTY. DUPAGE, MADISON AND SANGAMON COUNTIES EACH HAD ONE NEW CASE. TWO PEOPLE IN THE STATE HAVE DIED FROM THE VIRUS. MOST PEOPLE WHO GET INFECTED WITH THE VIRUS DO NOT BECOME SERIOUSLY ILL.
