Birth Weight and Adult Health

A new study shows babies born at very low or very high weights could develop significant problems later in life.

The report found babies weighing less than 5.5 pounds were 33 percent more likely to drop out of high school, made 15 percent less income as adults and had the health level of someone 12 years older. The study also found that heavy babies are more likely to become overweight or obese and have an increased risk of cancer.
