The family of Diamond Brownridge settled with Doctor Hicham Riba yesterday.
Brownridge family attorney Robert Clifford says the settlement is inadequate but the family accepted it because it was the full value of Riba's insurance policy.
Diamond never woke up after a September 23rd procedure at Riba's storefront clinic to fill cavities and cap teeth. The Cook County medical examiner's office determined the kindergartner died from a lack of oxygen caused by anesthesia.
In May, the state ruled that Riba's dental license should be suspended for at least 18 months.
Riba is contesting that ruling.
