For the first time the general public is allowed to speak.
Starting next week we the public are no longer silenced at Rockford City Council meetings. Five pre-chosen speakers have three minutes to address city leaders.
A public participation form has to be submitted to the City of Rockford Legal Department by 5 p.m. the Friday before the council meets.
Rockford Mayor Doug Scott has the ability to bump speakers to the following week based on what is on the council's agenda.
Finally, we all have a chance to stand up and let our voice echo throughout the council chambers.
