Wisconsin Metro Areas See Unemployment Rate Increase

Only Milwaukee and Sheboygan saw their seasonally-adjusted rates drop last month. Kenosha's rate stayed the same.

The state says unemployment is up in Appleton-Oshkosh, Eau Claire, Green Bay, Janesville-Beloit, La Crosse, Madison, Racine and Wausau.

The Department of Workforce Development says Racine had the highest rate at 7.1 percent in May, up one-tenth of a percent from the month before.

Madison has the lowest rate at 2.7 percent, up from 2.4 percent in April.

Wisconsin's overall unemployment rate increased a half percent to 5.1 percent in May.
