CHICAGO (AP) -- Chicago Police say they've used DNA to tie a 44-year-old man to a 1984 unsolved murder.
Melvin Green is charged with first-degree murder in the death of a 24-year-old woman who was found stabbed to death in her North Side apartment in March 1984.
Cold case investigators reopened the investigation into the slaying in 2008. Police say they obtained DNA evidence that matched Green.
Green has been ordered held without bond. It was not immediately clear whether he has an attorney.
He's next due in court Monday.
