The expansion of the nursing program at Rockford College will double the number of students that can enroll.
The nursing program will now be able to accomadate 40 to 80 students. Previously students were only admitted in the Spring Semester and courses were offered once a year. Now with the expansion it will allow a second admission in the Fall. The move is expected to help ease the critical shortage of nurses in the area and students see it as a chance to start working sooner.
"Well it allows me to start into the workforce six months earlier, and it allows me to retain all the previous knowledge that i've worked for over the last two years versus risking losing it it over time." said Jessica Clapsaddle.
According to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics the nursing field is expected to grow by 23% by 2016. For more information call 815-226-4050. Applications for Fall are being accepted now.
