Rock River Rescue

A boat with six people on board including two children flipped over on the Rock River last night. It happened around eleven o'clock near the Whitman Street Bridge. Fire fighters quickly responded, jumping into the water and rescuing all six. But family members also said not everyone rushed to the rescue.

While firefighters and some boaters came running, others did not and just passed her family yelling for help in the water.

Thank goodness the children are safe. Adults need to realize not to put helpless children in harms way. Boating safety is a priviledge just like having a drivers license. Parents our childrens safety is number one and whether driving a car or boat or anything powered they trust us too watch out for them.

They say police questioned the capacity of the boat. The lady said they had six adults and two children, and the boat had 8 seats. I own a boat. There is a plate on any boat that says what the capacity is in number of people or total weight, including gear such as life preservers, anchors, and any other accessories or items you may have on board. Just because there are 8 seats does not mean you can actually have 8 passengers on board. I noticed the transom is busted out? Was it rotten or did they have too large of a motor on it?
