Scandal-Plagued Mitsubishi Carries Out Pay Cuts

The salary cuts don't apply to workers in the United States, where Mitsubishi has a plant in Normal, but a Mitsubishi official in Tokyo (Hideyasu Tagaya) Wednesday said pay and job cuts are being considered there, too.

The Japanese automaker has been shaken recently by a cover-up scandal and a spate of recalls, the company's chief executive (Yoichiro Okazaki) said those recalls will likely reduce domestic sales for the fiscal year by 40 percent.
