The calls on the landline that interrupt our daily routine may have stopped for those on the Do-Not Call list, but telemarketers could soon be annoying people on their cell phones.
The Cellular Telecommunications Internet Association wants to create a directory listing all the cellular phone numbers in the entire country. You would be able to access the numbers by calling 4-1-1.
The CTIA says the list won't be printed so telemarketers won't be calling. Industry experts, however, say all telemarketers need to do is hire people to get the numbers from directory assistance.
A Senator from New York is pushing for legislation that would force wireless providers to get phone users' permission to add them to the directory.
