Saving the Roy Gayle Baseball Complex

Twelve hundred children were taking part in the 6th Annual Bat-A-Thon at Roy Gayle Park Sunday.

Rockford Pony Baseball is trying to raise $1 million to buy the complex from the Texas-based corporation, SCI Management.

Pony Baseball has raised about $300,000 so far of their $500,000 goal. They're hoping to raise about $20,000 from the Bat-A-Thon.

Rockford Pony Baseball says they would use additional sources to buy the park in addition to the money they raise from contributions.

Pony Baseball is a not-for-profit organization. Roy Gayle is run and operated by a volunteer board of directors.
