Blagojevich Seeks Public Support in Dispute Over Budget

At a school in Rockford, the Democratic governor said his budget would provide more money for schools and health care for the poor.

The Blagojevich budget would increase spending by about $1 billion despite a $2.3 billion dollar deficit.

He says lawmakers who want smaller increases do not have the right priorities.

Blagojevich has often used public appearances to increase pressure on lawmakers, but he may have a harder time doing that successfully this time.

Recent polls have shown a major drop in the number of people who say he's doing a good job as governor.
