State lawmakers are working hard to make sure we pay less in taxes for energy.
A new measure would reduce the state's energy consumption by replacing almost all state building lights with more energy efficient bulbs.
About 250,000 standard bulbs would be swapped with certified energy star efficient lights, that last up to 10 times longer and would save tax payers about 7.5 million dollars.
The proposal has been approved by both the Illinois House and Senate and now needs to be signed into law by the Governor.
Most agree that alternative energy sources are the future of our country and now we're finally moving ahead on that idea.
