Teens Arrested

Police have arrest two teenagers for the murder of 28 year old Nicholas Halsted.

17 year old Phillip Scherer of Rockford and 17 year old Earl J. Proper Jr. of Machesney Park are now in police custody. They're charged with first degree murder and are being held on one million dollars bond in the Winnebago County Jail.

Halsted was found shot in the head in his 6th street home Friday morning.

    I am glad they caught these punks, nick was my cousin and every one will miss him, he didn't deserve this, he has never done anything to anyone for this to happen. The punks are going to love being behind bars for the rest of their lives because they are 17 they will be treated as adults. Stateville has a place for them

    I want to thank our local police for finding the suspects. It is about time we got some good news with all that is going on in this city. Hope these two boys spend a lifetime in jail. But because of their age they probably will not which is not fair to the victims family.
