It's only 50 cents but for many drivers that's apparently too much to pay and they keep skipping out on paying the toll on the Bauer Parkway Bridge over the Rock River.
Now Machesney Park authorities are cracking down on violators. The Winnebago County Sheriff's Department is teaming up with the County Highway Department.
They've calculated how many cars go through the toll without paying and the peak hours of violations. Now officers are there during high violation times to catch the non paying culprits.
30 people have been arrested since increased enforcement started last month. Those arrested may have saved 50 cents but now will pay a fine of up to $500.
