CHICAGO (AP) -- The Illinois Department of Employment Security says new employment figures show employers added more than 12-thousand new jobs in the state in May.
The most jobs were added to the professional and business services sector and the leisure and hospitality industry.
Businesses services added close to seven-thousand new jobs and about four-thousand workers joined the hospitality industry. Construction employers also added about two-thousand workers.
The state employment security department says Illinois employers have added 65-thousand-800 new jobs in the past year.
The data shows that the state has added almost 190-thousand jobs since January 2004. That is more new jobs than any other state in the Midwest.
