BARABOO, Wis. (AP) -- A Wisconsin Dells teen who turned herself in for underage drinking faces a fine of 375 dollars and suspension of her driver's license that could last up to a year.
Baraboo police Lieutenant Rob Sinden says it's extremely rare, but people sometimes do report their own underage drinking to authorities.
Still, it doesn't stop police from handing out a ticket to anyone who is underage and consumes alcohol.
He says it will be up to the courts to decide if 18-year-old Sarah Ward should get any leniency for coming forward on her own. A police report shows she arrived at the police station in downtown Baraboo Sunday night at about midnight.
