Neighborhood Dispute

A Rockford home is vandalized and some neighbors are calling it retaliation.

Last week two houses on South 3rd Street were condemned in an effort to clean up the area. Last night a women's home was hit by at least one stone.

She's a block captain of the neighborhood association, the same organization that pushed for condemning the homes. Association leaders believe this vandalism is directly related to that.

Association leaders are meeting with police today to prevent this kind of retaliation from happening again.

We live in the area, and I believe it was retaliation. Those breaking the law want to keep the neighbors quiet, so they threaten or actually do something destructive, as in this case. I hope the block captains don't give up the fight to take back their neighborhood. Decent people shouldn't have to put up with intimidation.
