Environmentalists Join Call for Great Lakes Restoration

Wisconsin Wildlife Federation executive director George Meyer said the Great Lakes must be the country's next waterway restoration project.

The call for funding comes days after President Bush approved creation of the Great Lakes Interagency Task Force. It will explore future uses of the largest freshwater system in the world and how to restore the lakes.

Meyers is the state's former DNR secretary. He says the Great Lakes are among the most important waterways in the world.
