Monday is the last day in a four-day strike by the Communications Workers of America over health care and job security issues.
In Illinois, the CWA covers only about one thousand union workers at SBC, compared to more than 11,000 represented by the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.
The IBEW's contract with SBC doesn't expire until June 26, but members can honor CWA picket lines.
