Perfect strangers are coming together to grieve over the death of a 22-year old man and use the incident to call for change. There was a vigil Tuesday evening where members of the Beloit community gathered to pray.

The vigil was held to pray for Derrick Kimber's friends, family and community. Last week Kimber was driving past the intersection of Randall and Porter when Antonio Mance allegedly opened fire on his vehicle.

Kimber was hit and crashed one block away into the parking lot of Merrill Elementary School. After being rushed to the hospital, he was pronounced dead.

Violence like this has prompted area churches to come together with the shared goal of re-building their community. Justice Overcoming Borders, or JOB for short, will continue to hold prayer vigils at the sites of shooting deaths until they stop.
"Coming out here publicly, standing in the cold and praying together says that the faith community will not tolerate violence," said JOB member Ruth Kolpack.

JOB began holding vigils in September after a 17-year old girl was gunned down.

Kimber was only 22 years old, but he leaves behind two sons, ages 3 and 4, and his fiancee of three years, who hopes his death will spur positive change. "I just hope everyone is able to come from this bring peace to the world. We don't need anymore of this, we don't need to lose any more people."

Beloit police have tried several times to persuade Mance to turn himself in. He's considered armed and dangerous. If you know his whereabouts call Beloit police or crimestoppers.
