LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Paris Hilton's publicist says the celebutante's three-week jail sentence will give her time to reflect. But others have taken the opportunity to poke fun at the hotel heiress.
The 26-year-old Hilton entered a Los Angeles jail last night to begin serving what's expected to be a three-week sentence for violating probation in a reckless driving case.
Hours earlier, she attended the M-T-V Movie Awards presentation and was skewered by host Sarah Silverman. The comedian delivered a string of one-liners at Hilton's expense and when she announced that Hilton was about to go to jail, the crowd broke into cheers and applause.
Hilton told reporters before the show that she was "scared" but "trying to be strong."
For the time being, she's traded in her designer finery for a jail jumpsuit, and for her first meal enjoyed cereal, bread and juice.
