Rockford Police have their first and second homicides of the year on the same day. Police say Monday night the body of a 46-year-old black woman was pulled from the Rock River.
Two fishermen discovered the body in the river near the Morgan Street Bridge.
Winnebago County Coroner Sue Fiduccia says the woman had trauma to the torso and head from multiple stab wounds. She says it also appears that the body had not been in the water for very long.
Rockford Police say the body has been identified but the woman's name has not yet been released.
