One person is dead and another is airlifted to a hospital after an early morning car crash on I-90.
According to Boone County police the driver of the car was heading south down Ipsen Road in Belvidere when they lost control as the road curved. The car crashed through a fence and flipped over twice before ending up on the shoulder of I-90.
A semi driver passing by saw the car and called 911. The driver of the car was pronounced dead on the scene and the passenger, Ryan Bommer of Rockford was airlfted to Saint Anthony's Medical Center. The name of the driver has not yet been released and Bommers condition is not known at this time.
Boone County police say both Bommer and the driver were wearing seatbelts. Alcohol is not believed to be a factor but the accident is still under investigation.
